HOW TO RUN FOR ELECTED OFFICE OR VOLUNTEER FOR A POLITICAL CAMPAIGN. Do you care who wins the 22nd Congressional district in November 2018 to represent us in the U.S. House?

Do you want more choices in the 2019 local elections?

Are you thinking about running?

Last year, 2 out of 3 local candidates had no opponent.

Now is the Time to Get Involved!

Learn about the process, what works, how to volunteer

In this Making Democracy Work event, Republican Committee Chair Connie White and Democratic Committee Chair Tim Perfetti will walk you through the process of running for office at the local level. For those who choose not to run but are eager to help in other ways, they will also discuss the many options for you to participate as a volunteer with local, state, and national election campaigns.

In addition, we will hear from two new Cortland County legislators, Michael Barylski (D, LD 12) and Ann Homer (R, LD 7), who won office in November 2017 despite tough political odds. They will offer unique "from the trenches" perspectives on their decision to run, problems and surprises they encountered, and strategies they found useful on the road to victory.
